Arcaffé Center was a radical development in the world of leisure coffee houses in Israel. Comprised of a coffee and roasting house, a bakery, a patisserie, an espresso bar and shop, Arcaffé departed from the conventional small-scale coffee houses that typified Israeli cafes and opted for a large scale, multi-function environment. The result is a world of “goodies” dispersed around a central sitting area. Cafes are a form of urban theater where the customers are both the actors and the audience. In designing Arcaffé, the various elements act as props where the multiplicity of acts and gestures come together to reveal daily rituals of urban living. Arcaffé Center was a major step in the realization of contemporary café culture in Israel, of how contemporary design, proper programing, quality products and services can come together to define a destination.
